Men have been on a journey to go back to the wild (so to speak), to discover through style what first made men men, and camouflage is the next step in this journey.
The cultural burst where men became involved with fashion and caring more about a polished appearance began with tailored, preppy garments. Them came the waves of workwear, utility shirts, flannel, hiking boots and army green. Camouflage is the phase bringing us deeper into this outdoorsy trend.
What’s different about camouflage now as opposed to decades ago is that now we’re formalizing and tailoring the trend. A fitted camo-printed jacket or blazer is a sign that you’re savvy enough to both recognize a previous fad and also update it for today. It’s both a mark of our past and our present.
What’ll really impress people with this trend is not so much wearing it casual, but by elevating something that can go sloppy or make you look disheveled.
