“I think the most unattractive thing is a man in ill-fitting clothes,” fashion blogger DapperLou tells Black Book.
DapperLou is part of a growing sub-culture of African-American dandies in Brooklyn who are breaking the preconceived images of urban black men. Baggy pants and high-top sneakers have been replaced with bow ties and wingtips, and this fashionisto is one of the figures leading the charge.
Based out of Fort Greene, these men are placing more of an emphasis on the way they look. “Take a walk in the area,” says Black Book, “and it’s clear that something exciting is taking place…”
