The first time New York played host to Fashion’s Night Out a couple years ago, the streets were much less crowded. The next year, SoHo was flooded with people trying to snap photos of celebrities coming out of the Mercer Hotel, and I can only imagine that this year will be crazier. If you’re a New Yorker or are planning to visit Manhattan for Fashion’s Night Out tomorrow, don’t become one of those mindless wanderers that follow the crowd. Have a plan…
Live Music at Billy Reid
Fashion’s Night Out 2011 and Levi’s have come together to provide drinks and live entertainment at Billy Reid stores across the country. Fir New York’s night, Shelly Colvin will be performing from 7:00 to 7:45, Cory Chisel & The Wandering Sons 8:30 to 9:30 and Keegan Dewitt 9:45 to 10:45.
— 54 Bond St # 2, 10012
Mingle With Jenna Lyons
Even though the J. Crew on Prince Street is a women’s and children’s collection store, men will still want to go as J. Crew’s creative director Jenna Lyons and head of women’s design Marissa Webb will be attending for chitchat and cocktails. In addition, special Fashion’s Night Out tote bags will be given to those who spend $150 or more; but supplies are limited, so make sure you’re one of the first ones.
— 99 Prince Street, 10012; 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Clues and Booze at Jack Spade
The Jack Spade stores in SoHo and the West Village are hosting neighborhood scavenger hunts. Registration is already filled, but make sure you get on the waitlist. Everyone who registers will be entered for the chance to win a $200 spree at Jack Spade. Even if you don’t want to register, you should still go with your friends and have some childhood fun. Plus, Heineken and Bombay Sapphire will provide the buzz you need for the night.
— 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.; 56 Greene Street, 10012 for the SoHo scavenger hunt; 400 Bleecker Street, 10014 for the West Village scavenger hunt
U.S. Royalty Performing at American Eagle
Known as one of Esquire‘s 50 Most Stylish Musicians of the Last 50 Years, U.S. Royalty will be making a special performance starting at 8:00 p.m. in the American Eagle store in SoHo.
— 599 Broadway, 10012; performance starts at 8:00 p.m.
Talent Show at Alexander Wang
Special guest hosts will be judging those of you who choose to showcase your talents at the Alexander Wang flagship store. And, just like most stores and boutiques on Fashion’s Night Out, I’m sure there’ll be cocktails. I mean, it’s Alexander Wang we’re talking about. The guy likes to party.
— 103 Grand Street, 10013; 7:30 to 11:00 p.m.
OAK NYC and Ksubi
OAK’s main floor will be decked out 70’s-disco style, while Ksubi, the Australian fashion label, does 70s psych on the lower level. The music and Fuzzy Navals will make this a definite stop in your Fashion’s Night Out travels.
— 28 Bond Street, 10012; 7:00 to 11:00
Scoop NYC Blockparty
Scoop NYC’s Meatpacking location is going to be crazy. Zac Posen and DJ Jus Ske will be blasting music, artist Curtis Kulig will be designing a Fashion’s Night Out graffiti on the Scoop windows, blogger The Man Repeller for Gryphon will show her Scoop picks… That isn’t even the end of it.
— 861 Washington Street, 10014; 6:00 to 11:00
These are just some of the events going on for Fashion’s Night Out in New York City. Check out more events here. It’s bound to be a crazy night with tons of people, so have patience, but join in the hype.
