Esquire calls it, “the debut of a sophisticated fall collection,” and Frank Muytjens told The HuffPost, “we changed the silhouette to make work wear look more modern and tailored,” but I’m not sure how I feel yet about the new Fall collection for J. Crew 2011. On the one hand, I love how the brand that normally embodies the essence of American prep has become more chic and sophisticated, but on the other I feel that the change isn’t enough. It’s the same sweaters and the same sport coats, but in different colors and materials, and the brand is still on the workwear kick. I’m thrilled that there are new jackets, new bags and at least one new shirt pattern (that we can see).
